at
the
famous Kalemegdanska Terasa (please confirm
your attendance, for reservation purposes)
We will all be staying at the Hotel Moskva, Belgrade's historic hotel - with
its
original
mix of styles and grandeur,
drawing from the city's articulated 20th century history. Grand -sometimes,
monumental-
lobbies contrast with
unexpectedly simple (and tight) alleys, taking you to rooms where exquisite pieces
of
19th
century furniture are placed
next to socialist “high-end” sofas, in the context of a seemingly early 2000s
renovation
that sometimes leaves you with
more questions than answers.
3) ACCOMMODATION
We are happy to have arranged preferential treatment for our guests, which varies
depending
on the room assigned. While
we have considered only standard and superior rooms, guests are of course free to
upgrade
their stay, if they so wish (in case, please write to Ms. Jovana
Mikic for
enquiries).
1) Consider activating an e-SIM prior to arriving in Belgrade, or a local SIM
card
upon
arrival. Having internet access
will definitely simplify your life while in Serbia.
• Trg Republike (Republic square, with National Museum of Serbia and
National
Theatre) and
Kneza Mihaila street (all
walking distance)
4) TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS
2) Also upon arrival, consider withdrawing some cash (10 EUR = 1.100 Serbian
dinars):
while
most services in Belgrade
may be paid for by card, this is not the case for all of them (for instance,
some
taxis
and
small shops). Also, tipping
is usually not included with card payments (general tipping policy: think more
of
France
and
Italy, than the US). Prices
in Serbia are currently “schizophrenic” due to a mix of inflation and government
intervention in some areas: some things
are cheaper than in Naples (for instance, groceries and local food), others are
more
expensive than in Milan (for
instance, drinks and fine dining).
3) For your taxi rides, consider downloading the app “Pink Taxi Belgrade” or
“Car Go”: the
apps
are
easy
and efficient, taxi rides are
properly priced, and you usually should be able to pay by card. We do not
recommend
taking
taxis from the street: whilst
it should always be safe, you're also very likely to be ripped-off (and good
luck
arguing
with a Serbian taxi driver,
then…). The hotel can also call taxis for you (they usually arrive in 2-3
minutes).
4) Food wise, Serbia is a country that, in our view, beats Argentinian meat and
French
savory bakery. The meat, you'll
try with us; as to the bakery, dive into any of the many “pekara” (bakery, in
Serbian)
that
dot the city: try savory
pastries with cheese, meat, mushroom, ham, etc. …they're all a win! Conversely,
in
our
view,
the Austrian and Ottoman
cross-influences do not make Serbia the greatest venue for desserts (everything
tends to
be
any combinations of too
tall, too heavy, or too sticky).
5) In case you need an hairdresser, here's two suggestions from the Moskva:
Hair Store Minjovic
and Studio Prostor. Both
are within walking distance from the Hotel.
6) Some suggestions about places to see in Belgrade in your spare time:
• Skadarlija (old town; walking distance)
• Konak kneginje Ljubice (19th cent. family residence of Prince Milos,
walking
distance)
• Old Palace (Obrenovic family Royal Palace; walking distance)
• Narodna Skusptina (national Parliament of Serbia, walking distance;
call/email
for
tours
inside)
• St. Mark Cathedral and Tasmaidan park (walking distance)
• Nikola Tesla Museum (20-mins walk)
• Botanical Garden (20-mins walk)
• St. Sava cathedral (taxi)
• Muzei Jugoslavije and Tito's Rose Garden (taxi)
• Underground Tour of Belgrade
This website and the schedule above shall be the chief reference for all guests.
5) Communication during the event
This being a little gathering of around 40 people, if our guests ask us to, we may
create a WA
group - to share pictures
and directions, or coordinate get-together in between scheduled events.
Right now, you can see the other guests' emails, by clicking on the
respective boxes
above.
The bridal party may share directions or useful information via WA broadcast
messages to all
guests.
Forgive us if, during the event, we will not engage with WA.
In case of need, you may get in touch with Sara, Claudio's Maid of Honor, available on
WhatsApp at
+ 41 79 967 46 45
We are thrilled at the idea of celebrating the beginning of our Union with you. We
confirm that
your presence is all we
wish for - no worries about presents! 6) Tokens of affection
Still, due to the warm (up to quasi-threatening) insistence of some guests, we have
resolved to
give an indication as to
a token of affection that we certainly appreciate: thermal spa treatments! You see,
after this
fabulous weekend, we are
quite sure that …we will need a break. We both love thermal spas and, particularly,
one we often
choose as retreat: the
Hotel Millepini in Montegrotto Terme. If you wish, you may find at
this link
the pdf with the list of
treatments and you may write
to Mr. Alberto (info@millepini.it
; subject line: “treatment for Mr. Incisa and Pella”; please, ccn-in
claudio.matteo.vip@gmail.com) and let
him
know which
one you think best suited
for us. Alberto will guide you through the process to finalize the order.
